Pumpkin Dog Biscuits.

Xiao Bi started having diarrhea about 3 days ago and I’ve got darl to get me a slice of pumpkin for her. The smallest slice that we could get was still too big for her to finish. lol. So when I was googling around for some pumpkin’s benefits, I’ve landed on a recipe for Pumpkin Dog Biscuits. Sounds pretty easy and I’ve decided to make some up. :)

Ingredients:

2 eggs

1/2 cup canned pumpkin (in my case, I used raw pumpkin. Simmered to tender and mashed them up)

1/2 teaspoon salt (I only added a very small pinch)

2 tablespoon dry milk (I didn’t have dry milk in hand so I used about 1/2 cup of full cream milk)

2 1/2 cup flour (whole wheat flour recommended)

Water

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (that is about 175 degrees C).

2. Blend eggs and pumpkin together. Add salt, dry milk, and flour. Add water as needed. The dough should be dry and stiff.

3. Roll to 1/2 inch thick.

4. Cut into shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

5. Bake for 20 minutes on one side, then turn over and bake for another 20 minutes.

While I didn’t have cookie cutter in hand, I just picked up via hand and placed small pieces on the cookie sheet. Also, I think it wouldn’t harm to slightly grease the sheet. It’s really hard to get the cookies turned over!

Mine turned out like this. I think I’ve put a bit too much of water and the inner part just wouldn’t get hard. I cracked the bigger pieces to smaller bite size chunks and baked again for another 10 minutes. Got better but still kinda soft inside. Anyway, I gave Xiao Bi a few pieces and she loved it! :D

I think I’m going to pack a few and give her friend this evening. It’s a thumbs up healthy treat and I hope he’ll like it too. :)

You know, you can also give them rice. They love it, and it helps to make them ‘regular’.

Hi Robin! Nice to see you here. :) Yeap Xiao Bi is on regular rice and oat diet, since I normally prepare her meal for her. :)
