Etsy Front Page vs The Storque.

I slept a little late last night, at about 1 AM+. I was jokingly telling a fellow Etsian on Twitter that oh I wanted to wait for at least a transaction email to appear in my Inbox before I go to bed. And it actually happened. I wasn’t thinking too much about it and simply thought, oh good, people are starting to shop again, and I went to bed.

Early this morning I woke up to check our shop hearts and status, and found that we’ve got at least a dozen of new hearts! So I immediately checked and OMG, we were featured in Etsy’s Storque! And the item that we’ve just sold is the one featured in the Storque post!

Check the Storque post here.

I started thinking about the effect of the Etsy Front Page and Storque. Weird enough, everytime we were on the Front Page, none of our items were sold. But everytime we were in a Storque post (another time was with our other digital shop sometime last year) we sold the item being featured and perhaps some other items too (during the last featured). Front Page is perhaps, good for people who are constantly or more into browsing on Etsy, and it’s probably only good for 30 minutes. The Storque, on the other hand, has huge subscriber base and is definitely good for longer period of exposure – the post is going to stay there like, forever!

But either way, we love both. :D

P/S: We have a discussion-meet up-appointment sometime next week for a potential big leap in our business. Will reveal more by then. Hopefully everything turns out great – so the horoscope that mum sent was right. 2010 is going to be a good year! :)

Poor Organisation.

Remember I was saying about the book that we were featured in? Several weeks later, after contacting the author, the publisher FINALLY contacted/replied me about my contributor’s purchase (first bad experience, boo). That was in the beginning of November 09. After checking locally and comparing with the price and shipping that we are getting from them, although the price is almost the same, but we should be getting it earlier if we order from them (about 1 month+ to get it in local bookstore, or 10-14 days if order from them). So I proceeded to order from them and asked if we could pay via PayPal instead of cheque or money order, since it’s easier for us as international buyer, and was told yes, we can.

So we waited.

Now it’s already at the end of the month and where is my book? I was only receiving an invoice on 20 November 2009 after numerous emails asking for it (second bad experience, boo). And today, I received another email, after I kept asking how do I pay via PayPal since there was no instruction in the invoice, saying that she doesn’t know and was hoping that the person issuing me the invoice knows (third bad experience, boo). And the person issuing me the invoice replied and said that she thought the PayPal portion was already done and hence the invoice has a prepaid on it (fourth bad experience, boo).

Still not getting to the point and tell me how can I pay via PayPal (totally a bad experience, double boo!). What kind of publisher or company is this? I thought this only happens in Malaysia where the government servants are so used to bring you all around to everywhere but not to where you want to go.

So this is common? All over the world?

OK relax. It’s my off day today. :)

And the Banners Turned Out To Be…

Yeap! Sleeve cases for MacBook and MacBook Pro 13-inch! :D

One of them is already up in our Etsy shop. The others will be up hopefully these few days, after all the photo shooting sessions. Collected a few more really pretty banners from a friend yesterday and woohoo more to go!

P/S: Can’t wait for the long weekend coming this week so we can do more!

Sometimes, It Really Doesn’t Matter.

Sometime yesterday I suddenly remembered an incident of being accused of intending to do something I didn’t at work about a month or two ago. And for some reason, together with a terrible headache, I felt a little down. It was as if someone ‘dirtied’ my name with their own agenda. And I was thinking what should I do to ‘clean’ my name – yes I know it was a month or two ago and seriously I am not sure why was I even thinking about ‘cleaning’ it after so long. LOL!

And then sometime in the evening, after a good 3-hour nap with the help of a tiny paracetamol, nothing really matters anymore. I woke up realising that I didn’t care at that time because the whole incident strengthened my belief in working for myself instead of going according to instructions. I’ve made my decision at that time because there is no point in ‘cleaning’ up my name.

And why did this whole stupid feeling come back again after so long? Well if I say I didn’t know why it’s kinda lame. But I’m glad that it came back and gave me a chance to rethink and reassure myself of my decision and choice that I’ve made.

It’s all good. Everything is clear within myself.

**********

And what have we done the whole yesterday, despite my headache? Cutting out a huge banner that we’ve stolen *ahem* a.k.a collected from somewhere and more work to be done!

More banners!
