Best Birthday Celebration.

Wah decided to bring me and the dogs to the beach. I think the last time we went to the beach with Xiao Bi was more than a year ago, because I clearly remember that Coco has never been to the beach before. Turned out the weather was superb, the dogs were super happy – especially Xiao Bi, and I’m feeling great after spending some time walking on the sand! Awesome! :)

That Time of The Year Again.

Lemon Cheesecake from Sunflower Bakery

Wah drove to Sunflower Bakery on our way back from the post office. I asked him why. He said, to get you a birthday cake lo.

Yeah it’s my birthday tomorrow. We had an early cake cutting ceremony tonight instead.

One year older, one year wiser. I sure hope so. :)

Hmm... Time Flies...

I was browsing my photo library and found some old photos of Xiao Bi. Check out how far she has grown into. She was like a fur ball when she first joined us!

I could still remember carrying her in my arms. And I remember I was telling myself, you know what, this fella is going to be so big that you can never hope to carry her, so you better do it when you can.

And of course, I was right. In no time, she grew into this fat puppy with a big belly, running around digging holes in the yard like nobody’s business. Oh and not to forget that incident of her dragging me into a cactus bush when we went on a walk. I could never understand how on earth so much energy was being stored in that body.

Wah took this photo of hers when she was almost one year old. I think she was at her best shape at that time – nice coat, perfect weight, alert (I mean super alert, especially when there were cats and birds), energetic, friendly.

Now? Although not overweight yet, she’s got herself quite a big belly. Still energetic – but tend to get lazy more often nowadays, alert, and friendly, and her coat is still as pretty though.

You need more exercise, babe.

Anyway. Happy 3-year-old, buddy! It’s been a long way raising you (oh my, I sure talk like she is my daughter!) and we’re very grateful to have you. I hope you enjoyed your favourite liver-carrot bento this evening! :)

The Day I Celebrate…

… my birthday. :)

Yeap I’m a Geminian and I’m turning 30 today. Woohoo. How is this good for a fresh new start? ;)

Darl promised for a nice dinner last night and here is what we had.

Plus a small bottle of red wine. I’m not really a fan of red wine but I like the bottle. And I also like that sleepy feel after drinking. :D

And then I pathetically made myself a Lemon Cheese Cake. LOL!

It somehow melted quite quickly once it’s out of the fridge. But tastes superb. Gotta improve again next time.

Got tons of birthday wishes from old and new friends, and a big ang pow from parents. What a great way to start everything fresh. :)

The Daddy’s Muffin.

As my parents’ birthdays are less than a month away from each other, I’ve always practiced to give both of them the same surprise or presents, so no complaints ma. Hehe. So since this year I made my mum the chocolate-rock-muffin, I’ve decided to make my dad some muffins too.

And with that thought in mine, Karen Cheng posted the recipe for Raspberry and White Chocolate Muffins earlier this month. Sounds like an easy one, so I was off hunting for ingredients again. Got everything ready, except for raspberry. I substituted it with strawberry instead – honestly speaking, I have totally no idea what are these berries. They are just, berries, to me. >.<

Preparation was rather easy and fast. Mixed everything. And 30 minutes later, this is what I’ve got.

The first batch. I should have spooned more of the mixture in the cases.

The second batch. Much better. :D

If you ask me, it smelled SOOOOOOO GOOD in the oven! But only one thing. Notice the dark brown thingy on the sides? Those are sugar. I wasn’t aware that I was using those rough type of caster sugar and it didn’t melt enough when I was stirring.

But all in all, these are 95% successful pieces of muffins. Well at least, they are not rock-hard. :D
